Sediment trap and pressure regulator

OgdenAugust 2026

Problem
A water heater needed a sediment trap, and a waste and overflow and a pressure regulator valve needed to be replaced.
What we did
We added a sediment trap to the water heater. We replaced the waste and overflow with chrome trim and converted its slip-joint connection to a glued connection. We replaced the pressure regulator valve and connected it to PEX.

Problem
A jetted tub needed a Roman tub valve, and a waste and overflow needed to be replaced.
What we did
We drilled out the holes on the tub, installed the Roman tub valve with isolation valves, put on the trim, and tested for leaks. We replaced the waste and overflow in ABS plastic.

Sump Pump Installation

OgdenJanuary 2026

Problem
A sump pump needed to be rerouted, and a pump in the garage area needed to be replaced.
What we did
We pulled a permit and jackhammered a pit inside the basement. We rerouted the sump pump and took it about 10 feet over the hill, with an inspection before and after. We also replaced the pump in the garage area.

Why do sewer lines back up in Ogden and Weber County?

Roots are one reason the city itself names. Ogden City lists pipe breaks or cracks due to tree roots among the causes of sewer backups (source). It tells owners of older homes whose lateral has a jointed pipe system to consider whether the roots of large trees or shrubs near the line could invade and break pipes (source). Ogden has many older homes. The Census Bureau's 2020–2024 estimates put the median year built at 1966 for Ogden (source) and 1984 for Weber County (source). A drain that clogs again and again is a sign to look inside the line. A sewer camera inspection shows whether roots, a break, or a sag is the cause. Drain cleaning clears the clog. It does not fix a broken pipe.

Who is responsible for the sewer line from the house to the street in Ogden?

The resident is. Ogden City says the main sewer line in the street is the city's responsibility, and the line from the main to the house is the resident's (source). Other cities and sewer districts in Weber County set their own rules, so check with yours. If sewage is backing up, keep people and pets away from it and stop running water. Then find out which side the clog is on. If the city's main is clear, the problem is in your line. When a lateral is broken, there are two ways to fix it. We can dig down to the pipe and replace the bad section, which is sewer line repair. Or, when the pipe and the site allow it, we can repair the line from the inside with trenchless sewer repair, which leaves most of the yard alone.

Where does Ogden's water come from, and how hard is it?

Ogden City's 2025 water quality report says customers receive water from three main sources: groundwater from wells, surface water drawn from Pineview Reservoir and Wheeler Creek, and treated water purchased from Weber Basin Water Conservancy District (source). The report lists no hardness figure. Weber Basin's 2025 report says the hardness of its own water can range from 10 to 18 grains per gallon, or 171 to 308 parts per million (source). With three sources, the water at one Ogden address may not match the water at another. We test at your tap before we size a water softener. Scale does the most harm where water is heated. If a tank heater rumbles or pops as it heats, see water heater repair.

How often does a backflow preventer have to be tested in Ogden?

Every year. Ogden City says backflow preventers have to be tested within 10 days of initial use, and then re-certified annually. It says testing and re-certifying are the owner's responsibility, and that the work must be done by a certified backflow tester (source). That matches the state rule, which says backflow assemblies shall be inspected and tested at least once a year by a certified individual (source). A backflow assembly keeps water from a sprinkler system, a boiler, or a business process from flowing back into the drinking water. Its seals and springs wear, and it can crack if it freezes. We do backflow testing for homes and businesses, and we give you the test report your water supplier asks for.

What do spring runoff and winter cold mean for plumbing in Weber County?

Two seasons test a house here. At the U.S. Geological Survey gauge on the Weber River near Plain City, the long-term average daily flow is highest in the second week of May, at 1,340 cubic feet per second (source). Before then, pour a bucket of water into your sump pit. If the pump does not start and empty it, call us for sump pump repair. Winter is the other test. The 1991–2020 normals for the Ogden Pioneer Powerhouse weather station show a normal January low of 21.9°F, and an average of 27.6 January days with a low at or below 32°F (source). A hose left on an outdoor faucet, or a pipe in an unheated space, can freeze and split. The leak shows up when it thaws.

How do you schedule plumbing jobs in Weber County?

We are based in Lehi and send plumbers into Weber County from there. We do not post an arrival time on this page, because we have not measured one and will not promise a number we cannot keep. When you call, a person tells you when a plumber can be there. For a sewage backup, a burst pipe, or no hot water, call our emergency line. It is answered 24/7. For planned work, such as a camera inspection or a backflow test, you can book a visit. Estimates are free, and you get the estimate before any work starts. Our work carries a guarantee, and financing is available for larger jobs. We offer the same services in every city in the county, for homes and for businesses.
