Cities we serve in Salt Lake County

We work in nine counties. Not sure if we reach you? Call and ask.

How hard is the water in Salt Lake County?

It depends on who supplies your city. Salt Lake City's 2026 Water Quality Report lists 8.0, 10.2, and 12.4 grains per gallon at its three treatment plants, and 9.6 to 33.4 across city wells and springs (source). Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District's 2025 report lists an average of 182.4 mg/L, about 10.7 grains per gallon (source). Draper buys its water from that district (source), and West Jordan gets 93% of its supply there (source). Sandy's 2025 report lists 160 mg/L, about 9.4 grains per gallon, in its treated surface water, and the city runs its 16 wells in the hot summer months (source). When a city turns on its wells, the water at your tap can change. We test at your tap before we size a water softener.

What does spring runoff mean for basements in Salt Lake County?

Spring is when a basement gets tested. Salt Lake County Flood Control runs a Runoff Ready program to help residents prepare for spring snowmelt runoff (source). In April 2023, ahead of the melt, Murray and Millcreek set up sandbag filling stations for residents (source). The Utah Geological Survey says shallow groundwater can flood basements and damage buried utility lines (source). A sump pump sits idle most of the year, then runs for days. Pour a bucket of water into the pit before spring. If the pump does not start and empty it, call us for sump pump repair. A battery backup keeps the pump running when the power is out. If water is already on the floor, stay out of standing water, and shut off power at the breaker only if you can reach it from a dry spot.

Who is responsible for the water and sewer lines to my house in Salt Lake County?

Your city or sewer district sets the rule, so check with yours. Here are two that publish it. Sandy City says it is responsible for the water service line from the main in the street to the meter, and the property owner is responsible from the meter to inside the home (source). Jordan Basin Improvement District, a sewer district based in Bluffdale, says it is only responsible for its main line, not your service line, and that it is against the law for the District to work on private property (source). If sewage is backing up, keep people and pets away from it and stop running water. The District says that turning off all water use will generally stop a backup that starts in the house plumbing or the private lateral. A sewer camera inspection finds the spot in a sewer line. Leak detection does the same for a water line.

Do my sprinklers need backflow protection in Salt Lake County?

Yes, where the system connects to drinking water. Sandy City says all landscape sprinkling systems, new or existing, must be equipped with approved backflow protection (source). State rule says backflow assemblies shall be tested at least once a year by a certified tester, and lets the water system make the customer responsible for the test (source). Some homes water with secondary water instead. South Jordan delivers it to part of the city from four canals whose main source is Utah Lake, in a season that typically runs May 1 to October 15. The water is not filtered for debris, and the homeowner maintains the system from the stop and waste valve (source). Secondary water and drinking water must stay separate. We do backflow testing for homes and businesses.

How old are homes in Salt Lake County, and why does that matter for plumbing?

The Census Bureau's 2020–2024 estimates put the median year built at 1986 for Salt Lake County (source), 1965 for Salt Lake City (source), and 1985 for Sandy (source). A median of 1965 means about half of Salt Lake City's homes are older than that. In a house that age, the drain and sewer pipe may be the original. A drain that clogs again and again is a reason to look inside the line with a camera before you pay for another cleaning. Supply pipe ages too. Pressure that has dropped over the years, or pinhole leaks in more than one place, point to repiping. We do not guess at the pipe from the age of the house. A camera shows what is there.

How do you schedule plumbing jobs in Salt Lake County?

We are based in Lehi and send plumbers into Salt Lake County from there. We do not post an arrival time on this page, because we have not measured one and will not promise a number we cannot keep. When you call, a person tells you when a plumber can be there. For a burst pipe, a sewage backup, or no hot water, call our emergency line. It is answered 24/7. For planned work, such as a new water heater or a sump pump, you can book a visit. Estimates are free, and you get the estimate before any work starts. Our work carries a guarantee, and financing is available for larger jobs. We offer the same services in every city in the county, for homes and for businesses.
