Cities we serve in Utah County

We work in nine counties. Not sure if we reach you? Call and ask.

How hard is the water in Utah County?

It depends on the city and on which source feeds your tap. Provo's 2025 Water Report gives typical levels of 10–15 grains per gallon (source). Orem's report posted in 2026 lists 7 to 25 grains per gallon in the city's own wells and springs, and 6.55 to 9 in its treated surface water (source). Pleasant Grove lists 14.6, 17.5, and 28.7 grains per gallon for three parts of town (source). Saratoga Springs says its tests average 8.3 (source). Lehi's 2025 report lists no hardness figure (source). Hard water leaves scale in water heaters, on fixtures, and inside valves. The number can change from one side of a city to the other, so we test the water at your tap before we size a water softener.

Why does a water heater in Utah County need thermal expansion protection?

Provo City says a dual check valve is required on each residential water meter, and that under Utah's plumbing code every water heater must have thermal expansion protection (source). The check valve keeps water from flowing back into the city's mains. It also makes the house a closed system. When the water heater heats a tank of cold water, the water expands and has nowhere to go, so the pressure in the pipes rises. An expansion tank gives that water a place to go. Provo notes that older homes may not have one. A water heater replacement is the time to add one if it is missing. If the relief valve on your water heater drips, or the pressure at your faucets surges, call a licensed plumber. Do not cap or adjust the relief valve.

What should I know about pressurized irrigation water in Utah County?

Several cities here run a second water system for lawns. It is untreated, so it has to stay apart from your drinking water. Lehi says its pressurized irrigation water is not treated, and that users must turn off their connections by October 15 each year (source). American Fork's system runs April 15 to October 15 and is non-potable (source). Pleasant Grove tells users to drain their systems for winter to prevent freezing pipes (source). Saratoga Springs does not allow a cross connection of any type without a backflow prevention device (source). State rule says backflow assemblies shall be tested at least once a year by a certified tester (source). We do backflow testing for homes and businesses.

Who is responsible for the sewer line from the house to the street in Utah County?

In the cities where we found a published rule, the owner is. Provo says property owners maintain the sewer lateral that connects their property to the main sewer line (source). Eagle Mountain maintains the collection mains, and residents take care of the service line from the building to the right-of-way (source). Pleasant Grove says maintenance and repair of the lateral is the owner's responsibility, and that it will check the main sewer when you call (source). If sewage is backing up, keep people and pets away from it and stop running water. Then call your city. If the main is clear, the clog is in your line. A sewer camera inspection shows where the problem is, and whether the line needs cleaning or sewer line repair.

How old are homes in Utah County, and why does that matter for plumbing?

Much of the county's housing is recent. The Census Bureau's 2020–2024 estimates put the median year built at 2001 for Utah County (source), 2012 for Eagle Mountain (source), 2012 for Saratoga Springs (source), and 1983 for Provo (source). Age points to the likely job. ENERGY STAR says to consider replacement once a water heater is more than 10 years old (source), so many homes built around 2012 are reaching their first water heater replacement. In an older house, pressure that has dropped over the years or pinhole leaks in more than one place are reasons to look at the supply pipe itself. Our repiping page explains the signs.

How do you schedule plumbing jobs in Utah County?

Our shop is in Lehi, so jobs in Utah County start close to home. We do not post an arrival time on this page, because we have not measured one and will not promise a number we cannot keep. When you call, a person tells you when a plumber can be there. For a burst pipe, a sewage backup, or no hot water, call our emergency line. It is answered 24/7. For planned work, such as a new water heater or a softener, you can book a visit. Estimates are free, and you get the estimate before any work starts. Our work carries a guarantee, and financing is available for larger jobs. We offer the same services in every city in the county, for homes and for businesses.
