What it costs

Why we look before we quote

A leak behind a wall and a leak under a sink are different jobs, and so are a short gas line and a long one. We look at the work, then give you a price. The estimate is free.

  • Where the leak or the line is, and how hard it is to reach
  • How much pipe is replaced
  • The length of a gas line and what it feeds
  • Code upgrades the job needs

Larger jobs can be paid over time through Wisetack.

How the guarantee works

What should I do first when I find a leak?

Stop the water, then look for the source. Close the main water valve. It is usually where the water line enters the house, often in the basement or near the water heater. If the leak is at one fixture, the small valve under the sink or behind the toilet will stop it without shutting off the whole house. Stay out of standing water that is near outlets, cords, or the electrical panel, and shut off power at the breaker only if you can reach it from a dry spot. Some leaks never show. A water bill that climbs, a meter that turns when every tap is off, a warm spot on the floor, or the sound of running water in a quiet house all point to a hidden leak. Our leak detection page explains how we find one without opening every wall.

What should I do if I smell gas?

Leave the building right away and take everyone with you. Call the gas utility or 911 from outside, away from the building. Do not look for the leak, and do not go back in until the utility says it is safe. Call us after that. The utility stops the gas and makes the building safe. A licensed plumber repairs or replaces the pipe so the gas can be turned back on. We also run new gas lines for ranges, dryers, water heaters, fireplaces, and outdoor grills, and we size the pipe for everything it has to feed. Gas piping is tested under pressure before it goes into service. It is not work to do yourself, and we will not walk you through it over the phone.

Do I need a water softener in northern Utah?

It depends on your city's water. Hardness is measured in grains per gallon. Provo's 2025 Water Report lists typical levels of 10–15 grains per gallon (source). Park City's quarterly tests ran from 9 to 24 (source). Hard water leaves scale, a white crust of minerals. You see it on faucets and shower doors. You do not see it inside the water heater and the pipes, where it does the most harm. A water softener trades the hardness minerals for sodium before the water reaches your fixtures. We test your water, look at how much your household uses, and size the softener to match. If the pipes in an older house are already failing, repiping may come first.

Plumbing questions

Is yours not here? Call (385) 338-6068 and ask. We would rather answer it than have you guess.

Do you charge for an estimate?

No. Estimates are free.

Do you fix toilets and faucets?
Do you get plumbing ready for winter?
How do I know if my house needs to be repiped?

Signs include leaks in more than one place, rusty or discolored water, and low pressure across the whole house. We look at the pipe and tell you whether a repair or a repipe makes more sense.

Do you handle emergencies?

Yes. A person answers our emergency line 24/7. See the emergency plumber page for what to do first.
